Japan will send a plane carrying medical supplies, including medicines and diagnostic testing kits, to Myanmar, the Japanese Embassy in Yangon said.
The Japan Self-Defense Force C-130 transport plane carrying the supplies is scheduled to depart from Komaki Air Base for Myanmar as early as April 8.
The Japanese Disaster Relief Medical Technology Team (JDR) has been deployed to Myanmar to provide relief and treatment for the extensive damage caused by the earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, and the Japanese government will continue to provide humanitarian assistance, including medical care, in line with its unchanged policy, the Japanese Embassy said.
The Japanese government first dispatched a five-member Joint Disaster Response Team (JDR) on March 31, and a further 32-member Joint Disaster Response Team (JDR) was dispatched on April 2.
On March 30, the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) delivered 240 emergency raincoats and 450 tents.
In addition, it has been decided to provide basic daily necessities such as cleaning supplies, water and water purifiers to the earthquake-affected people through JICA. The Japanese Embassy in Myanmar announced that it is preparing to provide emergency assistance of approximately $6 million through international organizations on April 2.
