Then, the Deputy Prime Minister and his team inspected the construction sites of the Taungoo Central Prison and ordered that the prison under construction be designed and constructed to be earthquake-resistant, that officials and QC teams should inspect the construction works every two weeks (or once a week), that only quality materials should be used for construction, and that necessary technical assistance should be provided in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction.
Then, the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, the Deputy Prime Minister and his team visited the Taungoo University of Technology, where the Vice-Chancellor of the University explained the information on the university’s structure and construction, the conditions of the university’s damage due to the earthquake, and the classification of dangerous buildings/areas.
Then, the Deputy Prime Minister and his team inspected the Lobby, Main Building (3rd floor), Extension Building (4th floor), (3rd floor) Lecture Hall, (1st floor) Practical Hall, The computer rooms and classrooms by subject were inspected and the strength of the buildings was checked by the Bago Region Government, the building inspection teams, and the experts from the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the measurement and inspection equipment were ordered to renovate the buildings and parts that need to be repaired as soon as possible before the rainy season, and other necessary things were ordered.
The technical university is a high-tech university in Myanmar that has received international certification (ISO 9001:2025). Until the 2018-2019 academic year, it taught only four majors, namely Civil, EC, EP, and Mech, but from the 2019-2020 academic year, it has been teaching two additional majors, IT and MC.
Then, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, the Deputy Prime Minister and members arrived at the Taungoo General Hospital and were welcomed by the hospital superintendent and officials.
Then, the Vice Chairman of the State Administrative Council, the Deputy Prime Minister and members visited the civilians who were injured in the earthquake and were receiving medical treatment. They asked about the injuries, health care conditions, and recovery status of the patients individually, gave them food and supplies, and provided them with bonuses for hospital staff, and coordinated with the officials to provide the necessary assistance.
Of the 67 people who were injured in the earthquake, only eight are still receiving treatment, while 59 have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
