As temperatures rise, the dangers of ultraviolet radiation also affect humans.

Ultraviolet radiation is a type of radiation that is invisible to the naked eye.

It is called ultraviolet radiation because it has a frequency and wavelength that is longer than that of visible light.

Ultraviolet radiation is abbreviated as UV in English.

As a special feature, only crocodiles and most small birds can see ultraviolet radiation.

Ultraviolet radiation is a type of radiation that is part of sunlight and can also kill insects, so if there is a small amount of ultraviolet radiation, it can be beneficial, but if there is too much, it can be dangerous to humans.

The ozone layer in the upper part of the Earth’s atmosphere can absorb a lot of ultraviolet radiation, reducing the direct exposure of people and animals living on Earth.

However, scientists say that the ozone layer has been damaged by gases emitted by vehicles and industries, and the rate of ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth is increasing.

During times when the UV index is high, exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause sunburn and darkening of the skin.

The Ministry of Health warns that prolonged exposure can cause cataracts, premature aging of the skin, a decrease in immunity, and skin cancer.

Ways to protect yourself from ultraviolet radiation include (1) avoiding direct exposure to the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when ultraviolet radiation is at its highest; (2) wearing a protective umbrella, hat, etc. to protect your face, neck, and shoulders from direct sunlight when you go outside; Wear thick, loose-fitting cotton clothing that does not easily penetrate UV rays; Wear sunglasses that block 99% of UV rays, as UV rays can also harm the eyes; (3) Apply a thick layer of sunscreen (or SPF 15+) to exposed areas such as the arms, neck, and shoulders about 15 minutes before going out in the sun; Reapply sunscreen every two hours after application; (4) Children and the elderly are more susceptible to UV rays, so special care is needed. The Ministry of Health urges that children under one year of age not be exposed to the sun and that children only play in the shade.
