The Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Executive Council, the Special Representative of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar, and the Chairman of the Nippon Foundation discussed the damage caused by the earthquake in Myanmar, the dispatch of international relief teams and the delivery of relief supplies, and the fact that international relief teams are actively working with Myanmar relief teams and volunteers to provide relief.

In addition, the Special Representative of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and the Chairman of the Nippon Foundation expressed their gratitude for personally donating relief supplies to be used in the earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar, and discussed the fact that the Nippon Foundation will donate food and other necessary supplies equivalent to 3 million US dollars to the people affected by the earthquake.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reported that a strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck at 12:51 PM Myanmar time on March 28, 2025, and 65 aftershocks occurred in the seven days up to April 3.

The strong earthquake caused earthquakes in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Northeastern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, and Bago Region, damaging roads, bridges, and buildings, and causing some deaths and injuries.

The death toll and injuries as of 8:00 AM on April 2 were 2,886, 4,639 injured, and 373 missing, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology’s press release.

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar was equivalent to the force of 334 atomic bombs, and geologists said aftershocks could continue for months, according to Business Today.

Relief efforts in the affected areas are being carried out in real time by military personnel from various regional headquarters, Myanmar police, firefighters, foreign aid teams, departmental staff, social welfare associations/groups, and local residents.
