A man was killed after being hit by a train on the Yangon-Mawlamyine railway line between Pao Pyaw village and Zaritchaung village in Thaton Township, according to local residents.
A local resident said that the incident occurred at around 2:00 pm on May 30, when a train collided with a Yangon-Mawlamyine train between mileposts (134/12) and (134/13) on the Yangon-Mawlamyine railway line between Pao Pyaw village and Zaritchaung village in Thaton Township.
He continued, “The victim of the train accident is a 55-year-old man living in the Bon Kyaung area of Pao Pyaw village.”
The local resident also said that the man who was hit by the train died from injuries to his head and thigh.
The body of the man who died after being hit by a train was packed and transported by the Thaton-based Agyinthawwet Social Relief Association and then sent to the Thaton District General Hospital morgue.
On the afternoon of September 4, 2024, a man who was sleeping on the railway tracks near Milepost (137) of the Yangon-Mawlamyine Railway in Thaton, died after being hit by a Yangon-Mawlamyine Express train, according to locals.
