Coach Henrique Kay was delighted that PSG fans had paid tribute to his daughter Zana (nine), who died of bone cancer in 2019, with a photo.
“It’s very emotional. It’s really nice that the fans are thinking about me and my family. You don’t have to win the Champions League or a match to think about my daughter. I think about her every day. She is with our family. Even when we lose, I feel she is there. Zana is always with us,” he said.
PSG coach Henrique Kay, who also won the treble with Barcelona in the 2014-2015 season, is now the second coach to win the treble twice, after Guardiola (Barcelona 2008-2009, Manchester City 2022-2023).
PSG will face Europa League winners Tottenham in the 2025 European Super Cup, and have qualified for the 2025 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.
PSG are the first team to win the Champions League in history, becoming the 24th team to do so.
The result of this match is the same as Real Madrid (7-3) against Frankfurt in 1959-1960, Bayern Munich (4-0) against Atletico in 1973-1974, AC Milan (4-0) against Bucharest in 1988-1989, and AC Milan (4-0) against Barcelona in 1993-1994.
It is the highest-scoring final in history, surpassing the results of the matches against Barcelona.
PSG also became the first French club to win the treble, having also won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France this season.
In Europe, eight teams (Barcelona – twice, Bayern Munich – twice, Celtic, Ajax, PSV, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Manchester City – once each) have won the treble a total of 10 times, with PSG being the ninth.
