A man who killed a retired professor in Mandalay and took her belongings after promising to show her a plot of land for a real estate transaction was arrested in Heho town at around 10 am on May 1 (today), according to the Mandalay Region Police.

“The man who was currently selling real estate to her committed the crime. He killed her in one go after showing her the property. He took her jewelry, money, and real estate deeds. He then fled to Shan State with his family. He moved to different places and was finally caught in Heho today with evidence,” said a police official.

On April 27, Pathein Gyi Township, After receiving information that a woman was found dead with injuries and rotting in an uninhabited one-story building built in a field next to the Yethik village canal, relevant officials investigated and found that it was Daw Htwe Htwe, who had been missing since April 25. After investigating, the perpetrator was identified and arrested.

The victim, a retired professor and real estate agent, lived alone and was killed after leaving her home at around 10:30 a.m. on April 25 to view the property.

Sai Tun Naw (b.) Ko Sai (25), who killed Daw Htwe Htwe and took her belongings, has been arrested at the Pathein Gyi Police Station under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
