According to the figures received as of 8 am today, there were 2,719 deaths, 4,521 injuries and 441 missing due to the earthquake, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administrative Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.
The Chairman of the State Administrative Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, made the following statement at a donation ceremony for earthquake victims held in Nay Pyi Taw today (April 1).
“These are the latest figures that I have received, as of 8 am today, 2,719 deaths have been reported in all states and regions. 4,521 people have been injured. 441 people have been reported missing,” said the Chairman of the State Administrative Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.
During his visit to the earthquake-affected areas, he found engineering challenges and said that the construction of buildings was done lightly, which led to many deaths during the natural disaster, the Chairman of the State Administrative Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services said.
