Relief and relief efforts are ongoing in the areas affected by the earthquake.
At 12:51:02 PM local time on March 28, a strong earthquake and subsequent aftershocks shook Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, and northeastern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, and Bago Region, causing damage to roads, bridges, and buildings, and causing some deaths and injuries.
Relief and relief efforts in the affected areas are being carried out in a timely manner by military personnel from each regional command, Myanmar Police Force members, fire brigade personnel, foreign relief teams, departmental staff, social welfare associations/groups, and local residents.
Lieutenant General Myo Moe Aung from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, On March 31, the Commander of the Central Region Command, Brigadier General Kyaw Ko Htike, visited the Myanmar Economic Bank (1/2) in Aung Myay Thar San Township to inspect the smooth disbursement of pensions and salaries to civil servants, the Consumer Affairs Department and the Mandalay City Development Committee to jointly sell basic food items to the public at affordable prices at the Nan Seng Stadium in Aung Myay Thar San Township, and the Myat Sing High School, the City Mosque, Myoma Mosque, and Moe Kya Ja May Mosque in Sagaing City to inspect the cooperation with international relief organizations to quickly locate those trapped in collapsed buildings, and to coordinate with them on the necessary measures.
In addition, Lieutenant General Myo Moe Aung from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Chief Minister of Mandalay Region U Myo Aung, and the Commander of the Central Region Command, Brigadier General Kyaw Ko Htike, visited the Maha Dhammika Rama Taki Meiktila School, They visited the Mahasundara Rama Monastery, Shwe Kyin Thai Magi, Aweya Rama Monastery, and Ma Soy Thai Thit monasteries to pay homage to the monks and offer donations. They also visited the Mandalay Sri Stadium in Mandalay to meet and greet the relief teams arriving from Russia and coordinate the necessary measures for relief efforts.
